    Satan/The Devil

Sometimes the devil likes to drive you from the neighborhood.
He'll even work his ways through those whose intentions are good.
    "Ain't No Man Righteous"

When I'm gone don't wonder where I be.
Just say that I trusted in God and that Christ was in me.
Say He defeated the devil, He was God's chosen Son,
And that there ain't no man righteous, no not one.
    "Ain't No Man Righteous"

I see the screws breaking loose, see the devil pounding on in,
See a house in the country being torn from within,
I can hear my ancestors calling from the land of beyond.
    "Caribbean Wind"

Satan got you by the heel, there's a bird's nest in your hair. "Dead Man, Dead Man"

There's a retired businessman named Red
Cast down from heaven and he's out of his head.
He feeds off of everyone that he can touch.
He says he only deals in cash, and sells tickets to a plane crash.
Not somebody that you play around with much.
Miss Delilah is his, a Philistine is what she is,
She'll do wondrous works with your fate.
Gives you coconut bread, spiced buns in bed,
If you don't mind sleepin' with your head face-down in the plate.
    "Foot of Pride"

Yes indeed, you're gonna have to serve somebody.
Well it may be the devil or it may be the Lord,
But you're gonna have to serve somebody.
    "Gotta Serve Somebody"

    Sea/Ocean

And I'll tell it and think it and speak it and breathe it,
And reflect it from the mountain so all souls can see it,
Then I'll stand on the ocean until I start sinkin',
    "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall"

I've stepped in the middle of seven sad forests,
I've been out in front of a dozen dead oceans,
I've been ten thousand miles in the mouth of a graveyard,
    "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall"

I heard the sound of a thunder, it roared out a warnin',
Heard the roar of a wave that could drown the whole world,
    "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall"

How many seas must the white dove sail,
Before she sleeps in the sand?
    "Blowing in the Wind"

And the distant ships of liberty,
On them iron waves so bold and free
    , "Caribbean Wind"

Seabreeze blowing, there's a hellhound loose,
Arabian men who have escaped from the noose,
    "Caribbean Wind"

Atlantic City, by the coal grey sea,
I hear a voice crying, "Daddy," I always think it's for me,
But it's only the silence in the buttermilk hills that call.
    "Caribbean Wind"

Between the windows of the sea,
    Where lovely mermaids flow,
And nobody has to think too much,
    About Desolation Row.
    "Desolation Row"

Well, the ocean took my baby,
My baby stole my heart from me.
    "Down the Highway"

Well, meet me in the middle of the ocean
And we'll leave this ol' highway behind.
    "Down the Highway"

I hear the ancient footsteps like the motion of the sea,
Sometimes I turn, there's someone there, other times it's only me.
    "Every Grain of Sand"

Just a table standing empty, by the edge of the sea,
Farewell Angelina, the sky is trembling, and I must leave.
    "Farewell Angelina"

Where the sun never set, where the trees hung low,
By that soft and shining sea.
    "In the Summertime"

    Sky/Apocalypse

That the stars fell down and the field burns away,
    On Black Diamond Bay.
    "Black Diamond Bay"

Through the mad mystic hammering of the wild ripping hail,
The sky cracked its forms in naked wonder,
And the clinking of the churchbells blew far into the breeze,
Leaving only bells of lightning and its thunder,
    "Chimes of Freedom"

Farewell Angelina, the sky is on fire and I must go.

Farewell Angelina, the sky is trembling, and I must leave.

Farewell Angelina, the sky is folding, I'll see you in a while.

Farewell Angelina, The sky's changing colour, And I must leave fast.

Farewell Angelina, the sky is embarrassed, And I must be gone.

Farewell Angelina, the sky is erupting, I must go where it's quiet. "Farewell Angelina"

    If Not For You,
    My sky would fall,
    Rain would gather too.
    "If Not For You"

This sky too, is folding under you,
And it's all over now, Baby Blue.
"It's All Over Now, Baby Blue"
